The AA level offers a basic introduction to the game. Players will learn the fundamentals of fielding, throwing, and batting in a non-competitive environment. This level is a coach-pitch division (coaches pitching from one knee) with a batting tee for help. Wethersfield softball teams play other towns within our district (Newington, Rocky Hill, etc.) More guidelines below, subject to change:
*One practice per week; one game per week (about 90 minutes) on Saturdays; usually 8 games total.
*11 inch “soft” softballs should be used in this division.
*Fielding team will consist of a max of 10 players in the field with the outfielders on the outfield grass. Players should rotate positions every inning.
*Batting team will hit everyone in their lineup each inning even if the fielding team records three or more outs. The last batter each inning can circle the bases for a “home run” each inning.
*No bunting or stealing.
*No swinging of the bat other than in the batter’s box. There are no on deck batters with a bat in their hands!
*No score is kept.
*Encourage fair play, skill development, sportsmanship and FUN for all of the players!
