AAA softball is generally for players who are Little League ages 8 - 10:
LL Softball Age Chart
The AAA level provides more instruction and development within the game. Players will continue to practice the fundamentals of fielding, throwing, and batting, but the game is expanded. Full “regular” rules (3 outs per half-inning, etc.)
This level is a player-pitch/coach-pitch “hybrid” division. Wethersfield softball teams play other towns within our district (Newington, Rocky Hill, etc.) More guidelines below, subject to change:
*One - two practices per week; two – three games per week (about 2 hours), mid-week and Saturdays (12-14 total). Games generally last about 4 innings, unless more can be played.
*11 inch regulation softballs are used in this division.
*Fielding team will consist of 10 players in the field.
*Pitching – hybrid. If a pitcher walks a 2nd batter (or more) in an inning, the batter stays at the plate, and a coach will continue pitching to that batter until a hit or strikeout. Coach cannot walk a batter.
*Leading from a base: only allowed once the ball reaches home plate.
*Stealing: allowed from 2nd to 3rd base. (1st base to 2nd base – not allowed.) 3rd base to home plate (on passed balls) – 2x per inning max.
*A maximum of 4 runs scored will be allowed in one half inning (4 runs or 3 outs, whichever comes first).
*No swinging of the bat other than in the batter’s box. There are no on deck batters with a bat in their hands!
*Encourage fair play, skill development, sportsmanship and FUN for all of the players!
*All players in WLL softball are recommended to wear face masks when playing in the field defensively:
*All players in WLL softball must have a batting helmet with face mask attached:
