Majors softball is generally for players who are Little League ages 11 – 12. There are tryouts/evaluations each spring for LL age 10 players who wish to play in Majors. Not all LL age 10 players who are evaluated will be placed in Majors.
LL Softball Age Chart
The Majors level is a competitive division, with full softball play and rules.
This level is a player-pitch division. Wethersfield softball teams play other towns within our district (Newington, Rocky Hill, etc.) More guidelines below, subject to change:
*One - two practices per week; two – three games per week (about 2 hours), mid-week and Saturdays (12-14 total). Games designed to be 6 innings.
*12 inch regulation softballs are used in this division.
*Fielding team will consist of 10 players in the field.
*Leading from a base: allowed once the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand.
*Stealing: unlimited.
*A maximum of 5 runs scored will be allowed in one half inning (5 runs or 3 outs, whichever comes first).
*No swinging of the bat other than in the batter’s box. There are no on deck batters with a bat in their hands!
*Encourage fair play, skill development, sportsmanship and FUN for all of the players!
